The Australian Dream Arthritis Pain Relief Cream story began in 1997 when a patient at Campton Discount Drugs in Campton, Kentucky returned an arthritis cream she had purchased there. She was unhappy with the burning sensation and redness that it caused to her skin. Pharmacy owner Phillip Maddox soon determined that it was the capsaicin (a substance that causes the hotness in peppers) in the cream that had caused the problem.
Mr. Maddox and two of his brothers had recently formed Natures Health Connection, Inc. to market a unique skin cream to small independent pharmacies. With the success of the skin cream, they soon realized that another product was possible. Using the skin cream as a starting point, they set about finding a soothing arthritis cream that did not use capsaicin as an active ingredient. They also were intent on developing a product that did not have the usual menthol odor.
They soon had a very popular product that sold quickly. At first it was simply named Arthritis Relief Cream. But in order to be recognized across the world, it needed an international name. Customers said that “it worked like a dream.” And it had a very unique ingredient: Australian emu oil. Australian Dream Arthritis Pain Relief Cream became the new name.
Since 2008 Australian Dream has grown from an independent pharmacy sensation to a national favorite. National food and drug store chains such as Walgreens, CVS and Kroger are making Australian Dream available to arthritis sufferers across the country. Today, Australian Dream is sold in over 10,000 individual stores nationwide.
While the sales of Australian Dream continue to grow each year, the story of how the cream came to be has not been lost. With its Empty Jar Guarantee, Australian Dream continues to be a leader in customer satisfaction.
